ICS breaks down barriers between filmmakers and the industry in order to cultivate filmmaking talent of tomorrow. To kick things off, guests will be able to indulge in the usual exquisite catering services while networking during the first half hour of the event. This time allows for filmmakers to directly connect with panelists to receive feedback on their films and guidance for their careers.

The 2012 event held on April 1st proved to be a success reaching capacity at The Downtown Independent Theatre. The Best of the Fest Award went to the film, Donor, directed by Mark Gantt. ICS was proud to award its first Best of the Fest Student Award to Hetero, directed by Ruhi Bhalla of Santa Monica High School.

The next ICS event will take place at 3:00-7:00pm on March 3rd, 2013 and is sure to bring more talented filmmakers and industry guests. Panelists will include director Graeme Clifford, who is known for his work directing Frances, The Last Don, and Gleaming the Cube. With other industry guests already being added to the list, this is sure to be another successful ICS event for filmmakers, panelists, and guests.

This festival screens short projects only, 35 minutes in length or less.  Projects from around the globe are welcome but they must contain subtitles if they are not in English.  Beyond that the sky is the limit.  We welcome all short form storytelling including dramas, comedies, music videos, webisodes, commercials and experimental projects.

Submission fee is $40.00 by mail or through our website indiecinemaseries.com. You can save $5.00 by submitting through withoutabox.com. We accept both check and credit card.  Mailed payments, DVDs and other materials should be sent to the following address:

Fresh Off Their Sold Out Event in September, ICS Kicks Off the New Year with a New Location and New Panelists

April 2012 brings Indie Cinema Series to an exciting new home: The Downtown Independent Theatre. Known for its appeal to the independent filmmaker, the Downtown Independent Theatre boasts a large theatre seating area, an expansive lobby for guests and a rooftop lounge with a view.

The next ICS event will also start a half hour earlier at 6:30. Guests will be treated with the usual, delectable fare from Teresa Robledo and Komeme Vegan Catering while enjoying the best in short films from around the globe. Industry guests include Michael Tenzer (MTV Senior VP of Business and Legal Affairs and former Senior VP at ICM), and David Tenzer (talent agent, entertainment lawyer, business consultant and former packaging agent for CAA). A third industry panelist will join the roster by the end of this month.

The 2nd Indie Cinema Series event held in September 2011 was no less exciting than the first. The 5000 sq foot location at True Vision Entertainment Studios held a sold out crowd on September 25th where filmmakers mingled with invited industry panelists, guests and other filmmakers.

With one year under its belt, ICS plans to expand on the success it saw in 2011 with better films, more opportunities to network and overall growth for all involved.

Indie Cinema Series is committed to creating a global network for film makers, linking them with their peers and celebrity panelists to establish a forum for discussion, creativity and innovation within the art of film making.

Los Angeles, CA –August 2, 2011-In an effort to create more opportunities for student filmmakers, the Best Student Film category has been added to Indie Cinema Series. The student film that takes home the Best Student Film Award will have the opportunity to mentor with one of the three production companies heading the event.

“The Indie Cinema Series basically takes the principles of a regular film festival and combines them with meaningful notes from well known actors, directors, producers, and screenwriters, who serve on the guest panel. As filmmakers, we submit to many film festivals, yet are never given notes on our work. ICS provides filmmakers with an opportunity to learn what works and what doesn’t in their projects. Panelists at the September 25th event include, independent producer and studio executive, Andreas Olavarria; distribution consultant and producer, Sheldon Brigman; and Kevin Tancharoen, director of the 2009 remake of Fame.
